JDA Builds Over 400 Residential Apartments in Jammu

The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has planned for a new housing project in the city of Gandhi Nagar. According to reports, the JDA has approved the site for the construction of around 425 residential apartments in a housing complex.

For over 2 decades, Jammu is facing an extreme scarcity for lands to construct big scale residential and commercial projects. The new housing project from JDA will provide homes to more than 400 families living in the Jammu state. The allotted site is located in a posh Gandhi Nagar area in the heart of the city. According to a report, Gandhi Nagar is said to be one of the best residential locality, although it is a suburb in Jammu which makes it a good choice for the new residential project. The minister of urban development, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Urban development secretary, Satish Nehru and vice chairman of Jammu Development Authority visited the site for approval. A week back, the urban development minister approved the construction site on 8 kanals in the Gandhi Nagar neighborhood.

According to reports, the JDA has planned for modern group housing project of 425 apartments which will be available in different costs, catering both the higher income group (HIG) and economically weaker section (EWS) in the city. This large scale project will be constructed on a self finance basis which aims at providing houses at an affordable range. Apart from the Gandhi Nagar project, the minister also initiated the construction of a new project in Muthi, near Jammu by laying the foundation stone. This Muthi residential project comprises of 524 apartments for mid income group, low income group and EWS populace.
