Porur: An upcoming locality at Guindy-Poonamallee road

Porur, located 18 kilometers to the south-west of Chennai on the Guindy-Poonamalee road is growing rapidly. It has been included in the Chennai Corporation in 2011 and since then there has been demand for good housing in Porur. Another reason for housing demand is attributed to numerous manufacturing plants, chemical factories and for its vegetable markets.

Connectivity

Porur is excellent connected to other parts of Chennai and it is a main junction for 3 major roads:

  • Arcot Road – connects Nungambakkam
  • Kondratur Road – connects with temple town of Kondrathur
  • Mount-Poonamallee Road – connects Guindy and Poonamallee

The residents living at Porur does not have much problem with connecting to other localities, as one can find buses and share autos at regular intervals. The nearest railway station is Guindy, which can be easily connected to.

Development of civic and social infrastructure

This locality has some good schools in its kitty, namely, PSBB Millennium School. There are schools like Pon Vidhyashram, Govardhan Hemavathi International School, Lalaji Memorial Omega International School which are found around this locality. Hospitals like MIOT Hospital and Sri Ramachandra Medical have been part of Porur from decades.

Porur has become a chosen locality for commercial real estate after OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road). With DLF IT Park existence, this locality is the most sought-out destination for major IT companies. Companies like IBM, IGAte, Zoho, CTS are already started their operations in DLF. Two more IT SeZ are upcoming in this locality:

Experts say that Porur is gaining momentum and the prices will shoot up shortly.
